How Do I Make a Public Information Request?

Texas Government Code, Chapter 552 (Texas Public Information Act), gives you the right to access government records; and an officer for public information and the officer's agent may not ask why you want them. All government information is presumed to be available to the public. Certain exceptions may apply to the disclosure of the information. Governmental bodies shall promptly release requested information that is not confidential by law, either constitutional, statutory, or by judicial decision, or information for which an exception to disclosure has not been sought. You may submit a request for public information electronically, by U.S. mail, or in person.

  • Your request must be in writing, should include your name, mailing address, phone number, or other means to contact you, and should reasonably identify the information or records you are requesting. The Public Information Coordinator is available to assist you by identifying available records, however, the Public Information Act does not require a governmental body to create new information, to do legal research, or to answer questions. The Texas Lottery Customer Service Line is available to answer questions. 800-37LOTTO (800-375-6886).
  • Please be advised that there may be a charge for the information you are requesting.

To request public information from the Texas Lottery Commission, please submit your request via the Public Information Portal: https://texaslottery.govqa.us/WEBAPP/_rs/supporthome.aspx
