November 15, 2023 The Blue Yucca Trust, of Rapid City, South Dakota claimed an estimated annuitized $360 million Mega Millions jackpot prize for the drawing held on Oct. 6, 2023. The claimant chose the cash value option at the time of purchase and received $157,367,045 before taxes; the largest prize ever paid out to a single Texas Lottery player.

Governor Greg Abbott appoints Clark E. Smith and reappoints Cindy Lyons Fields to the Texas Lottery Commission with terms set to expire Feb. 1, 2029.

November 2, 2023 During the 2023 North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries’ (NASPL) annual conference, held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Texas Lottery was recognized by its lottery industry peers with prestigious NASPL Awards. The agency’s “Know When” Responsible Gambling campaign and its 30th Anniversary finale event, featuring Ghostland Observatory earned three awards. The agency was also named a finalist for four other awards.
October 12, 2023 The Texas Two Step jackpot rose to an estimated $2.25 million, the second-largest jackpot in game history and the largest since Oct. 2, 2006. Winning tickets were sold in Houston and Garland. Claimants shared the jackpot prize.
October 11, 2023 Powerball surges to an estimated annuitized $1.72 billion, giving Texas Lottery players a chance to play for the second-largest prize in game history. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold in California. During the jackpot run, which stretched 36 draws dating back to July 22, 2023, eight Texas Lottery players won second-tier Powerball prizes worth $1 million or larger.
October 6, 2023 A jackpot-winning ticket for the advertised $360 million Mega Millions drawing was sold in Texas, marking the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won by a Texas Lottery player. The winning ticket was sold at Stripes No. 5031, located at 5665 Sherwood Way, in San Angelo. It was the Texas Lottery’s 14th Mega Millions jackpot winner since joining the game in 2003.
October 4, 2023 The Texas Lottery announces it generated more than $2 billion for its beneficiaries in a single fiscal year for the first time, as the agency set a new all-time sales record with $8.73 billion in lottery sales in FY 2023 to mark its 13th consecutive record-breaking sales year.
September 12, 2023 A Houston resident claims a $6.25 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on Aug. 30, 2023. The ticket was purchased at Kroger 308, located at 11003 Shadow Creek Parkway, in Pearland.
September 7, 2023 A McKinney resident claimed a $17 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on Aug. 16, 2023. The ticket was purchased at 7-Eleven Convenience Store #35410A, located at 7650 Campbell Road, in Dallas.
August 21, 2023 A Weatherford resident claimed an estimated annuitized $8 million jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held June 17, 2023. The ticket was purchased at Tiger Mart 51, located at 102 E. Interstate 20, in Weatherford.
August 8, 2023 Texans play for the largest Mega Millions jackpot prize in game history, as it reached an estimated annuitized $1.58 billion. During the jackpot run, which stretched 32 draws dating back to April 21, 2023, eight Texas Lottery players won second-tier Mega Millions prizes worth $1 million or larger. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Florida.
July 19, 2023 Ryan Mindell, deputy executive director, was named a recipient of a 2023 Powers Award, a top industry honor.
July 5, 2023 Rook TX LP, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey claimed a $95 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on April 22, 2023. The winning ticket was purchased at Hooked on MT, located at 5200 Colleyville Blvd. (Suite E), in Colleyville.

May 31, 2023

An Arlington resident claimed a $7.5 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on May 17, 2023. The ticket was purchased at One World Grocery, located at 2881 Highway 157 N., in Mansfield.

May 23, 2023

For a second consecutive year, the Texas Lottery Commission’s creative in-house video efforts are recognized by The Telly Awards. The agency was named a Bronze Winner in two Branded Content categories for its “FY22 Sales & Revenue” video and for its “30th Anniversary Campaign” video.

April 22, 2023

After a historic jackpot run, a winning ticket for an advertised estimated annuitized $95 million Lotto Texas jackpot prize was sold in Colleyville. The jackpot prize was the third largest in Lotto Texas history after stretching a record 93 draws, starting as an advertised $5 million prize on Sept. 19, 2022. Sales for this Lotto Texas jackpot run were, in total, $138.2 million, which yielded an estimated $50.6 million for public education over this period of time. At the time of the drawing, it was the largest jackpot up for grabs in North America and second largest in the world, only behind EuroMillions.

April 6, 2023

Ten jackpot-winning tickets were sold for the advertised $1.55 million Texas Two Step jackpot. The winning tickets were sold in Carrollton, Cedar Park, Duncanville, Fort Worth, Houston (2), Lubbock, San Angelo, San Antonio and Tyler. The jackpot prize was split among the 10 jackpot winners. Prior to this occurrence, there had been only one other time 10 jackpot-winning tickets were sold for a single Texas Two Step drawing (Aug. 10, 2006).
January 13, 2023 For the second time in less than six months, Texans play for a Mega Millions jackpot prize worth over $1 billion, as the advertised jackpot prize for the Friday the 13th drawing reached an estimated annuitized $1.35 billion, making it the second-largest jackpot in the game’s history. During the jackpot run, which stretched 26 draws dating back to Oct. 18, 2022, three Texas Lottery players won second-tier Mega Millions prizes worth $1 million or larger. The jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Maine.

2022

Date Milestone
November 7, 2022 Texans play for a world record Powerball jackpot. The advertised estimated annuitized jackpot for the drawing was an estimated $1.9 billion with an estimated cash value of $929.1 million. By the time of the drawing, the Grand Prize grew to an estimated annuitized $2.04 billion with an estimated cash value of $997.6 million. This was the largest jackpot of any lottery game on record in the world, surpassing the estimated annuitized $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot for the Jan. 13, 2016 drawing. The Grand Prize winning ticket was sold in California. The jackpot run stretched from Aug. 6 – Nov. 7, totaling 41 draws, which tied for the longest jackpot run in Powerball history. During that run, 10 Texas Lottery players won second-tier Powerball prizes worth $1 million.
November 6, 2022 The Texas Lottery Commission was awarded a Greater Austin Top Workplaces 2022 honor by Austin American-Statesman Top Workplaces. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The anonymous survey uniquely measures 15 culture drivers that are critical to the success of any organization, including: alignment, execution and connection.
October 19, 2022 The Texas Lottery Commission received the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries’ (NASPL) top award, the Best of the Batch Award, during the 2022 World Lottery Summit (WLS) held Oct. 16-20, 2022 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The agency was awarded the honor for its work on its 30th Anniversary documentary, “30 Years of Winning,” which features a detailed look at the first three decades of the Texas Lottery. The documentary debuted on the agency’s YouTube channel in Feb. 2022.
October 4, 2022 A Katy resident claimed a $19 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on Sept. 17. The winning ticket was purchased at Master Food Mart, located at 13053 E. FM 1097 Road, in Willis.
September 26, 2022 The Texas Lottery announced it surpassed its all-time sales record for the 12th consecutive fiscal year, achieving $8.297 billion in sales in FY 2022 – an increase of $189.7 million, or 2.3%, over FY 2021 – resulting in a record total contribution of $1.998 billion for Texas education and veterans. The achievement included new records for scratch ticket and draw game sales.
July 29, 2022 Texans play for the second-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history, as the advertised jackpot prize for Mega Millions reached an estimated annuitized $1.28 billion. By the time of the drawing, the jackpot prize grew to an estimated annuitized $1.337 billion with an estimated cash value of $780.5 million. The jackpot winning ticket was sold in Illinois. Ranging from April 19 – July 29, the jackpot run stretched 30 draws. During the run, four Texas Lottery players won second-tier Mega Millions prizes worth $1 million or larger.
July 26, 2022 Scratch Ticket Strategy Coordinator Dale Bowersock and Draw Game Coordinator Julie Terrell were named 2022 Powers Award recipients, a top industry honor.
July 25, 2022 An Arlington resident claimed a $7.25 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on June 25. The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K #2742055, located at 3950 Valley View Lane, in Irving.
June 8, 2022 A Pearland resident claimed a $17.75 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on June 1. The winning ticket was purchased at Murphy USA 7683, located at 3200 Dixie Farm Road, in Pearland.
May 24, 2022 The Texas Lottery Commission received a Telly Award for its in-house documentary commemorating the Texas Lottery’s 30th Anniversary. The agency was recognized as a Silver Winner in the Branded Content – Documentary: Individual category for the film “30 Years of Winning,” which features a detailed look at the first three decades of the Texas Lottery. The documentary debuted on the agency’s YouTube channel in Feb. 2022.
May 16, 2022 The Texas Lottery introduces $20 Million Supreme, the U.S. lottery industry's first scratch ticket game at the $100 price point. The game features over $829 million in total cash prizes, including prizes starting at $150 and four top cash prizes of $20 million – the largest top cash prizes the Texas Lottery has ever offered in a scratch ticket game.
May 5, 2022 A Haltom City resident claimed a $6.75 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on March 5. The winning ticket was purchased at Grapevine Market, located at 1216 W. Northwest Highway, in Grapevine.
April 4, 2022 To commemorate three decades of generating revenue for the State of Texas, the Texas Lottery launches 30TH Anniversary, a $5 scratch ticket game to celebrate “30 Years of Winning” with its players.
February 28, 2022 The Texas Lottery announces an expansion of in-lane ticket sales, as Texas Kroger stores begin offering QUICKTICKET™ at the checkout lanes for Powerball® and Mega Millions® players.
February 22, 2022 A Pasadena resident claimed a $9.5 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on Feb. 14. The winning ticket was purchased at Motu Food Mart, located at 4900 Space Center Blvd., in Pasadena.
January 12, 2022 A Highland Village resident claimed a $16.25 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on Jan. 1. The winning ticket was purchased at RaceTrac #375, located at 1809 Justin Road, in Flower Mound.

The Texas Lottery Commission received three top lottery industry awards during the 2021 North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries’ (NASPL) annual conference, which was held digitally for a second year in a row due to COVID-19 precautions. The agency was presented with a Hickey Award in the Best Website category for its redesigned website that launched in Dec. 2020. The Texas Lottery received a pair of Batchy Awards; one in the Print Advertising – Retailer Signage/Merchandising category for its Hawaii Dream Getaway point-of-sale promotional signage, and another in the Print Advertising – Color or Black and White category for its All or Nothing™ daily draw game print ad.

A Houston resident claimed a $20.75 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas drawing held on Oct. 2. The winning ticket was purchased at  BFM Food Mart, located at 5825 Bellaire Blvd., in Houston.

October 7, 2021 Conchita Daniel, drawings supervisor, was named a recipient of a 2021 Powers Award, a top industry honor.
September 23, 2021 In the midst of its 30th anniversary celebration, the Texas Lottery announced it crossed another major milestone in FY 2021, achieving $8.107 billion in sales for its 11th-consecutive record-breaking year – resulting in a record total contribution of $1.998 billion for Texas education and veterans. The new record sales total, a $1.403 billion increase (20.9%) over FY 2020, was driven by a pair of independent records, as the Texas Lottery achieved its highest scratch ticket and draw game sales’ totals in its nearly 30-year history.
August 23, 2021 Mondays are added to the Powerball® and Lotto Texas® draw schedules, giving Texas Lottery® players three nightly drawings (Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) each week and more chances to play for larger and faster-growing jackpots.
July 12, 2021 All Texas Lottery claim center locations resume walk-in claims processing for the first time since health and safety measures were put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. Appointment requests for claiming a prize at a claim center are no longer required.

The Texas Lottery Commission’s website address shifts to texaslottery.com, replacing the txlottery.org domain. This transition is made in connection with the December 2020 launch of the agency’s redesigned lottery website. The move to texaslottery.com incorporates stronger brand recognition for the agency.

March 17, 2021 A Baytown resident claimed a $6.25 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas® drawing held on Feb. 10. The winning ticket was purchased at Rush 3, located at 5495 FM 3180 Road, in Baytown.
March 4, 2021 A San Antonio resident claimed a $5.5 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas® drawing held on Jan. 20. The winning ticket was purchased at Allsups #102247, located at 907 N. Austin St., in Comanche.
January 25, 2021 Dueling Mega Millions® and Powerball® jackpots, along with robust scratch ticket sales, led the Texas Lottery to attain more than $227 million in total sales in a single week for the first time in its history. From Jan. 17-23, 2021, weekly sales totaled $227,832,546, eclipsing the former record amount of $215,331,576 was attained exactly one week earlier. The historic sales figure marked an increase of $102,385,709, or 81.6%, from the same period of the previous fiscal year.
January 22, 2021 Texans play for the third-largest jackpot in U.S. history, as the Mega Millions® jackpot prize reaches an estimated annuitized $1 billion, marking just the second time ever that the Mega Millions jackpot has reached that level.
January 19, 2021 For the first time, both multijurisdictional lottery games advertise jackpot prizes worth more than $700 million at the same time. The Mega Millions drawing for is set at an estimated annuitized $865 million, while the Powerball jackpot for the Jan. 20, 2021 drawing is set at an estimated annuitized $730 million.

The update includes an expanded layout for the latest draw games on the homepage and an all-new “Player Area” that houses popular resources for Texas Lottery® players.
Oct 27, 2020 The Texas Lottery was awarded a Batchy Award and a Hickey Award – top lottery industry honors from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL). The agency’s Lucha Libre Loot scratch ticket game social media video earned a Hickey Award in the Multicultural Advertising category, while it’s LUCK HAPPENS Livestream, featuring Black Pumas, was awarded a Hickey Award in the Audio/Visual Presentation category.

Oct 19, 2020 A Seguin resident claimed a $47 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize for the Lotto Texas® drawing held on Sept. 30. The ticket was purchased at Pic N Pac 10, located at 109 Highway 123 N. Bypass, in Seguin. This is the first Lotto Texas jackpot winner of more than $30 million since the May 16, 2018 drawing, when a $30.25 million estimated annuitized jackpot prize was claimed by a Houston resident.
Oct 8, 2020 For the first time in nearly six years and for only the fourth time in Texas Lottery history, the top prizes for All or Nothing™ and Cash Five® and the jackpot prize for Texas Two Step® were each won on the same day.
Sep 30, 2020 After a record 74 drawings, a Lotto Texas jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Seguin. At the time of the drawing, the $47 million estimated annuitized Lotto Texas jackpot prize was the second-largest lottery prize up for grabs in the world. It was also the largest Lotto Texas jackpot prize won since a $97 million jackpot-winning ticket was sold for the May 29, 2010 drawing.
Sep 24, 2020 The hard work and dedication of Texas Lottery retailers – essential businesses serving their communities throughout the COVID-19 health crisis – enabled the Texas Lottery to achieve $6.704 billion in sales during its 10th-consecutive record-breaking year, a $452.5 million increase (7.2%) over FY 2019. This achievement also resulted in a record total contribution of $1.684 billion for Texas education and veterans.
Sep 10, 2020 The Texas Lottery is awarded Level 3 recertification by the World Lottery Association (WLA) for its responsible gaming initiatives.
Jul 21, 2020 Governor Greg Abbott named Robert G. Rivera of Arlington chair of the Texas Lottery Commission, replacing outgoing Commissioner J. Winston Krause of Austin as presiding officer. The governor also appointed Jamey Steen of Houston to the Commission.

Apr 3, 2020 In direct response to slowing sales during the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Mega Millions Consortium adjusted the game’s starting jackpot to a guaranteed $20 million and announced it will determine the amounts of subsequent starting jackpots and jackpot increases on a drawing-by-drawing basis, immediately following the April 3 drawing. Future starting jackpots and the rate at which the jackpot increases will be established based on game sales and interest rates, with no fixed minimum amount. Subsequent jackpot amounts will be determined and announced prior to each drawing.
Apr 2, 2020 In an updated motion, the Powerball Product Group announced its decision to determine Powerball’s advertised jackpot based on game sales and interest rates. Following the April 8 drawing, guaranteed starting jackpot amounts and minimum jackpot increases will be eliminated, and future jackpot increases will be determined and announced by the Product Group prior to each drawing.

Due to COVID-19, players in many U.S. lottery jurisdictions are under shelter-in-place orders, affecting normal consumer behaviors. In response, the Powerball Product Group votes to reset Powerball’s starting jackpot to a guaranteed $20 million (annuity) with minimum roll increases of $2 million between drawings following the next Grand Prize win.

Jan 6, 2020 Prize payout cap at four Texas Lottery claim centers increases. Metropolitan claim centers in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio – in addition to Austin – can pay prizes of up to $5 million by check, an increase from the $2.5 million cap.

The Texas Lottery Commission joined Texas State Representative Chris Turner and the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) at the Texas State Capitol to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Texas Lottery’s contributions to TVC’s Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA). The first decade of veterans-dedicated scratch ticket games sales, which began on Nov. 9, 2009, led to  more than $122 million being contributed to the FVA by the Texas Lottery.

The Texas Lottery Commission unanimously voted to adopt proposed rule amendments to Pick 3 and Daily 4. The amendment will end the Sum It Up add-on feature and replace it with a new add-on feature called FIREBALL®. A player who purchases either the Pick 3 plus FIREBALL or the Daily 4 plus FIREBALL feature will get to use an extra number, randomly drawn after each of the Pick 3 and Daily 4 base game drawings, to create more winning combinations and increase the player’s chances of winning a prize. The changes are planned to go into effect Spring 2019.

The Texas Lottery celebrates its 20th anniversary. The Texas Lottery was launched on May 29, 1992, when the first ticket was purchased by Gov. Ann Richards at Polk’s Feed Store in Oak Hill. Since that time, the Texas Lottery has generated more than $20 billion in revenue for the state and distributed $39 billion in prizes to lottery players.
Mar 30, 2012 The Mega Millions jackpot reaches a world-record $640 million. The jackpot is shared by three out-of-state winners, but 14 Texas players matched five numbers to win $250,000 each. The Texas Lottery sets numerous sales records, including an all-time record for weekly sales with just under $150 million. The Texas Lottery Commission voted 3-0 to approve the All or Nothing game rule. The new game, scheduled to begin in the fall of 2012, will feature four daily drawings Monday through Saturday and give players the chance to win up to $250,000 by picking 12 of the 24 numbers drawn or none of the numbers drawn.

Aug 8, 2002 After 10 years of operations, Texas Lottery terminals in more than 16,500 lottery retailers are changed over to the new ISYS terminal. The new terminals feature a customer display screen that provides players verification of winning tickets at lottery retail outlets. The new terminals also have programmable LED (Light Emitting Diode) message display units, allowing the Lottery Commission the instantaneous ability to better inform players and retailers of jackpot amounts or new games.

Mar 18, 2002 Texas Lottery Commission launches a statewide public awareness campaign regarding the "Latin Lotto Scam ." The lottery enlists the aid of law enforcement agencies throughout the state to help spread the message among elderly Hispanics to be aware of con artists duping citizens with altered lottery tickets. The campaign kicks off in Houston at the Ripley House with State Senator Mario Gallegos and Houston Police Department representatives present. Also the Lottery, in conjunction with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (T-CLEOSE) sponsored training programs in major metropolitan cities around Texas to inform local law enforcement about the scam.
Mar 15, 2002 The unclaimed $13 million Lotto Texas jackpot prize is transferred to the state's Multicategorical Teaching Hospital Account. The account receives $7.3 million, which equals the Cash Value Option amount.
Mar 6, 2002 Texas Lottery Claim Centers throughout the state are now able to pay a top-prize amount up to $999,999.

May 13, 2001 Texas Two Step dances across Texas with a flourish. Sales for the first week top $1.2 million, with $655 thousand coming on the day of the first drawing, May 18th. To debut the game, the Lottery co-sponsors a two-step dance contest in Pasadena, drawing nearly 500 entries. Mar 7, 2001 Lotto fever grips the state! Ticket sales skyrocket as the Lotto Texas jackpot climbs to $85 million, its highest level ever. With sales climbing by the minute, Lottery Executive Director Linda Cloud bumps the advertised record jackpot of $77 million to $85 million. At the peak of sales on Wednesday, tickets went at the rate of 64,000 per minute. Sales reach a new one-day record of $32.2 million the day of the drawing.

Sep 9, 2000 Lotto fever is everywhere! With a $60 million estimated jackpot ready to go ticket sales are soaring. Sales are so strong, Lottery Executive Director Linda Cloud bumps the advertised jackpot twice: first from $57 million to $59 million and then to $60 million, making this the first "double bump" in Lotto Texas history. During peak selling hours on Saturday, tickets were going at 33,000 per minute. The $60 million jackpot is the third largest prize in the history of the agency.
Aug 31, 2000 The Texas Lottery Commission ends its eighth fiscal year by posting sales in excess of $2.6 billion. Public education is again the big winner, as it receives nearly $900 million from Lottery deposits. Since the first ticket was sold in May of 1992, the State has received more than $8 billion in lottery revenues.
Jul 19, 2000 For the first time in nearly eight years, the Texas Lottery changes its Lotto Texas game. Four numbers are added to the field from which players can choose their numbers. Among the other changes is a hike in the payout to 55 percent of the jackpot. Additionally, winners picking three of six winning numbers see their prize increase from $3 to $5: winners of four-of-six will see an increase to a $105 average payout: and the five-of-six average prize climbs to $2,500. The odds also decrease to one in 25.8 million for winning the six-of-six jackpot prize.
Mar 22, 2000 A $28 million Lotto Texas jackpot causes a sensation. It is the largest jackpot to date of calendar year 2000, and a former Dallas Cowboy living in Austin purports to have the winning ticket. Eight days later, a corporation headed by Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson claims a Cash Value Option jackpot in excess of $14 million.
Mar 21, 2000 After nearly five years at the helm of the three-member Lottery Commission, Chairwoman Harriet Miers resigns. Governor George W. Bush names C. Tom Clowe originally appointed in November of 1998, to head the Commission. Bush also appoints Dallas attorney Betsy Whitaker to assume Miers'unexpired term.
Mar 14, 2000 Texas Lottery Commissioners vote unanimously to authorize the publication of proposed amendments that could bring changes to the Lotto Texas game by early summer. The amendments increase the payout from 50 percent to 55 percent and expand the Lotto's field of numbers from 50 to 54.

Nov 10, 1999 The largest Lotto Texas jackpot to date in calendar year 1999, $38 million, is won by Candelario and San Juanita Garcia of Victoria. The store clerk mistakenly sold San Juanita 10 annuity Quick Pick tickets. She decided to keep them anyway.
Sep 14, 1999 A dozen lottery players, mostly struggling farmers from Gould, Oklahoma, pop. 250, harvested a huge cash crop this year in the form of a Lotto Texas Cash Value Option jackpot of $11.8 million. They purchased 120 tickets at the Super 7 Convenience store in Quanah. The advertised jackpot for the Aug 23rd drawing was $23 million.
Aug 31, 1999 Fiscal Year 1999 ends and the Texas Lottery delivers nearly $1 billion to the Foundation School Fund. Since its inception, the Lottery has returned more than $7 billion to state coffers.
Aug 6, 1999 Retirement is even sweeter now for 64-year-old Louis C. Lopez of Midland. He took home a Cash Value Option lump sum of $5.1 million for winning the $10 million Lotto Texas drawing on Jul 28th. He bought only one ticket.

Jun 19, 1999 Gov. George W. Bush signed into law House Bill 844 by Rep. Ron Wilson, D-Houston, removing the cap on the prize payout percentage. This restored to the Texas Lottery Commission the discretion to establish the payout.
Feb 28, 1999 "It was a great year for Charitable Bingo in Texas," declares Billy Atkins, Charitable Bingo Director at the Texas Lottery Commission. During 1998, gross receipts from bingo totaled $604 million, up from $593 million in 1997. Charitable distributions also increased from $38 million in 1997 to $42 million in 1998.
Jan 13, 1999 Bill Parsons, general partner of the Financial Freedom I, L.P., kicked off 1999 by winning $22 million. He held the ticket from the drawing on Saturday, Jan 2nd and claimed his prize as a Cash Value Option sum that totaled $12.3 million.

Mar 11, 1998 Proving yet again that it takes only one ticket to win, 38-year-old Houston construction worker LaDraun Campbell wins $12 million in Lotto Texas dollars. He hires a bus to bring 50 family members and friends, all of whom slept at his house the night before, to share in his big day at Lottery HQ in Austin.
Feb 4, 1998 The Lotto Texas jackpot climbs to $47 million and ticket sales soar to more than 40,000 per minute at 5 p.m. on the day of the drawing. One winning ticket is sold in Uvalde to Billy Cowsert of San Antonio. He comes to collect his big win on February 27.
Jan 8, 1998 It's an astronomical sales record for the five-year-old Texas Lottery!
